European Audiobook

The European Audiobook project presents modern European literature on the future of living. A special podcast presents chapters narrated in Hebrew. The project is promoted on all relevant platforms and via library carts in the public space.

The European Audiobook is an invitation to discover both modern and contemporary European literature dedicated to pertinent questions of our time. You can listen to the podcast on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts or on the EuropeReadr Israel website.

Seven chapters of half an hour each lead listeners through captivating stories, presenting them with intriguing characters and providing ample opportunity to reflect on the world we live in and envisage the future of living. Excerpts from the selected texts have been translated into Hebrew particularly for this project and recorded by professional actresses and actors to offer local audiences a high quality listening experience.

The selected texts offer an exploration of the European Union in all its diversity, its individual differences and shared challenges, its particularities and similarities – as a colourful community with a common future. The global relevance of the selected topics also fosters the building of literary bridges between Europe and Israel.

The audiobook is a result of cooperation between the Austrian Cultural Forum, the Czech Centre, the French Institute, the Goethe Institute, the Lithuanian Culture Institute, the Romanian Cultural Institute in Tel Aviv, the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia, and the Delegation of the European Union to the State of Israel.
